Bluegrass Music comes to radio in Jacksonville

Renowned radio personalities, Ernie and Debi Evans bring exciting news to the first coast! "We are proud to announce a brand new Bluegrass Radio Show in Jacksonville called "Bluegrass Waves" on WJSJ 105.3FM. This is the first time Jacksonville has had a bluegrass show in over 30 years", says Debi. "Almost every major city in the US has one or more bluegrass radio programs broadcasting weekly and now Jacksonville joins them. There are over 3,500 families in our area that are currently or have been a member of the North Florida Bluegrass Association recently. This does not count thousands of fans that just enjoy acoustic music. WJSJ's broadcast range covers a population of over 1,000,000 people and potential listeners. This is very powerful and a wonderful opportunity to keep up with news & events in our area on where to see and hear and learn about America's own music, Bluegrass".

"Bluegrass Waves" airs every Tuesday evening from 8:00 to 9:00 pm on WJSJ 105.3FM in Jacksonville and via streaming internet at http://www.radiofreejax.com/.

Ernie and Debi can still be heard broadcasting live Sunday Afternoon's from 3-6PM on WFCF 88.5FM in St Augustine, FL as well as late night Tues. evening from 12:00 midnight till 2:00am on World Wide Bluegrass performing "The Evans Midnight Round Up / Good Morning Europe Show"

Programming For New Show Going Better Than Expected

Let's just start out by saying how amazed we have been with the fluid interaction with the European Bluegrass Community obtaining program content. When we first started this project we thought there would be major hurdles, communication barriers, and long distance challenges. From the beginning we set out to explore European Bluegrass and the difference in cultures to exchange information with the US to educate both audiences. This venture was a perfect fit with the World Wide Bluegrass network and without them it would not be possible. Another key component was obtaining information on events, association activities, and talent. Although this info is easily accessible in the US, Europe is a whole other story. We started with zero data but soon found these challenges were easily overcome with the help of so many.

We want to thank the entire European bluegrass community for their overwhelming support and cooperation in supplying us with great information for our programming. We would especially like to thank those of you who responded immediately and contributed great input for our new venture as we format our first show. Special thanks to Rainer Zellner, Niall Toner Band, Richard Hawkins, Wasel Arar, Carel Van Melis, Dix Bruce, Phil Parnell, Liz Meyer, and The G2 Band. For the possitive input and encouragment; Ted Lehmann, Bob Mitchell, Gracie Muldoon, and Vicki Abott.
